The Defence Transport Heritage of Tasmania is a group of like minded enthusiasts who are interested in the preservation and restoration of Military vehicles in Tasmania.
Conceived circa 2003 with the aim of providing a forum for persons interested in Restoring, Preserving, Using and Displaying ex Military Vehicles and their associated equipment. The Heritage is not a Para- Military organisation, and in no way glorifies or supports war.
Membership is directed mainly towards the Tasmanian North and Northwest. The Heritage communicates with other like interest groups in most mainland states, and produces a quality quarterly Newsletter.
Membership is $25.00 for the first year and includes a cloth badge. New members are always welcome, vehicle ownership is not mandatory. Members vehicles currently total 16 units.
The Heritage is keen to follow up on any information as to the whereabouts of any vehicles, parts, uniforms or equipment to enhance displays and preserve our history.
The Heritage produces a quarterly newsletter and has regular trips, displays and meetings. Membership is open to anybody with an interest in military vehicles. Ownership of a vehicle is not a requirement for membership. Membership for the first year is $25 and includes a cloth badge. Membership is $20 each year after joining.
Each year we participate in a number of events, and organise a number of our own. the ANZAC day parade in Launceston is our main focus each year as it a very importaint day. We also set up a display at steamfest on the march long weekend at Sheffield and this year we had a display at the first Midlands Military Meet and Rendezvou at Campbell Town. The DTHT AGM is held every year in February and members regularly make trips to the GPA Swim in and Military Vehicle Rally held in Corowa NSW in march each year.
Other events throught the year are more social in nature, trips to local parks, orgnaistaions, members houses, and so on. All members and their family and friends are welcome to come to however many, or few, events as they like.
